What is screen printing?
Screen printing is an old & well-used printing method – real handwork. The method of screen printing was actually developed in China already around 4000 years ago!
Screen printing is usually used on tote bags and cotton garments and is the most common form of printing when it comes to T-shirts.
To print a screen print, you produce a so-called template of the motif. The garment is then attached to a holder. Here, it is extremely important that the garment fits correctly to ensure that the print does not end up in the wrong position. The stencil is attached to a frame with a thin canvas with small holes that is placed over the garment and through the stencil the printer then presses a thin layer of color onto the garment.
With screen printing, you can only print one color at a time. One template is therefore made per color, and the procedure above is repeated for each color.
After this, the garments must pass through an IR oven to dry the print, before they are ready for delivery.
We provide the services of screen printing in Dallas Tx from the platform of Dallas Shirt printing platform and we have over 30 years of experience in textile printing.
When is screen printing best suited?
Screen printing is best suited for garments and cloth bags. They are very advantageous in terms of price in large volumes, but less cost-effective in small volumes. The disadvantage is that the start-up costs (templates) are relatively high, which means that it is not as well suited for low volumes.
The templates are of course saved at our print shop after ordering and on the next order you only pay for the set-up cost.
Does the pressure hold when washing?
Yes, the print has a long shelf life and good quality, this means you can wash the garment again and again without the print disappearing.
How many colors can be printed?
Screen printing can be used for both simple printing and advanced multi-colour printing. However, the majority of screen prints we sell are usually 1-2 colors.
Our printing house can print up to 8 colors with screen printing.
If you want the print in your own PMS color, the printer will of course mix the color for you.
With screen printing, you can also print gold, silver or reflective printing.
How many garments can you print?
You can print as few as one garment with screen printing, but considering the initial cost, it is not particularly cost-effective. We usually recommend a minimum of 25 prints.
Is the paint used environmentally friendly?
Yes, our printing house only uses environmentally friendly ink for screen printing.
What is intermediate drying?
When you print a light print on a dark garment, better color drawing is required so that the color of the garment does not shine through the print.
For example, on a black t-shirt with a white print, the print will look gray without an intermediate dryer. The same applies to red t-shirts, as a white print easily turns pink.
In other words, you press the print twice, and let the color dry between times – hence the name “intermediate dryer”.
